A. Unfortunately, often nursing home residents that are neglected or abused are incapable of expressing the pain or reporting the neglect on their own. It is important to visit your loved one often and look for signs of abuse. These signs and symptoms might include any of the following:
- Sudden mood swings
- Anxiety
- Dehydration
- Depression
- Bed sores
- Cuts and bruises (or more significant injuries)
- Heavy sedation
- Anxiety
- Significant weight gain or weight loss
